Its good to know where you’re going and where you are and we know that one of the most common searches for Barnstondale are for directions to our centre in Wirral, Merseyside – but what about when you’re finding your way around the many acres of our site when you’re here? We have the perfect activity for you!
Orienteering as a sport is a fast-paced individual competitive activity, but at Barnstondale we aim to make our adventure activities about working together and achieving together and that’s how we do Orienteering. Children from groups and schools all over the North West will work with one of our trained staff to learn to understand a map of the centre and to use it to navigate around and find specific landmarks.
This fantastic adventure activity really improves awareness as children work together to compare the map to what they can see and to find the different orienteering marks that are hidden around the site. Its an activity that gets children excited about exploring their environment and to be active outdoors, while developing new map reading skills. Its proven popular with all of the schools who visit us from North Wales, Cheshire and across the North West and is the perfect easy-access and inclusive outdoor activity.
